December the 16th, 2024 – A fantastic predicted visitor number for gorgeous Istria for the New Year celebrations is expected.
As Morski writes, satisfied guests who have fallen head over heels for Croatia’s largest peninsula are the perfect promoters of Istria throughout the entire year. Although many hotels across Istris County are currently empty, that will all change in just a few days. It is expected that around 50,000 foreign guests will descend on Istria to welcome in the New Year.
It’s currently quite difficult to find a guest staying at one of Rovinj’s hotels, but the festive spirit in that beautiful coastal down is clearly visible everywhere.
“Booking announcements are great for the New Year, as well as for the entire Advent period. We’re expecting a good occupancy rate as far as the hotels are concerned,” revealed David Flam, the marketing director of a local hotel company.
In preparation, Istria’s many hotels have designed activities for their guests so that there’s plenty to do over the festive and New Year period even if the weather is less than favourable.
Hotels across the popular ancient city of Poreč have also prepared a similar offer.
“The end of the year is sold out, so we’ve designed a programme for both children and also one for adults which stretches late into the night,” pointed out hotel director Matija Bošković.
Festive celebrations will also take place in other Poreč hotels. In addition to packed hotel programmes, there are also programmes taking place outside of these complexes, in the very heart of the city.
“The magical festivities are starting in Umag, and Advent in Poreč is already well underway, so our guests will certainly not regret coming to Istria. Advent programmes in all of the county’s destinations is a fantastic reason to come and visit the peninsula at this time of year,” Eva De zan Prusina, head of public relations at another Istrian hotel company told HRT.
Advent in Poreč is much livelier in the evening hours when the dark descends and the Christmas spirit awakens, and this is emphasised when the weather is good.
“There are guests here, but now the weather is a little worse. In the evening, the situation becomes much better, as does the traffic. So far, there are a few foreigners, there were a couple of Germans, but generally the main visitors are people from elsewhere in Croatia,” revealed salesperson Zakarija Bajrić.
However, with the main part of the Christmas period starting soon, the number of foreign guests spending time in beautiful Poreč is expected to increase fivefold.
“About ten hotels are currently open, and we’re realistically expecting about 5,000 visitors who will realise about 20,000 overnight stays. That’s in line with the planned programme and plan for the end of the year,” added Nenad Velenik, director of the Poreč Tourist Board.
In addition to the aforementioned number, around 50,000 foreign guests will spend time in Istria over the Christmas and New Year period.
