Developers behind the Pointers project keep adding to the app and creating new capabilities.
Project Pointers, which connects the “green” and “blue” Croatia, or rather the country’s continental and coastal parts, has spread to three new locations on 1 June. It is now covering the Split area (Split, Trogir and Omiš), as well as the islands Krk, Pag and Hvar. The developers of this app, who come from the city of Osijek, say that they have lately added 22 new capabilities and an entirely new design, reports Večernji List on June 6, 2016.
Pointers is a free mobile app that works with Android and iOS smartphones. Its number one purpose is to promote Croatian tourism, and the app therefore contains detailed information about all the beaches along the coast, about the main landmarks and other interesting information involving the locations it covers. Behind the project stands an experienced team of young experts headed by the Apria company from Osijek, which has reaffirmed its two decades long multimedia experience with the completion of the Pointers Krk project.
The team from Osijek is also proud of the fact that Pointers has been selected as one of the 10 finalists among the 83 projects submitted for the contest that was organised by Zagrebačka Banka. Besides, the project has been recognised by Microsoft’s Tribes programme, through which it has received additional expert mentoring in order to be able to improve even more. This move has confirmed the Pointers value as the best personal tourist guide around Croatia.
“An average number of trained professionals who are taking care of the Pointers system is about 30, with a tendency of growth in accordance with the new projects. These are people who are performing daily maintenance of all the seven platforms, and they are improving, refreshing and pushing the project forward technologically. They are also handling sectors related to marketing and public relations on both domestic and foreign markets”, Pointers representatives explain.
Last year, when Pointers was still at the startup stage, it became the third most downloaded app in Croatia, which brought it the support of institutions such as the Croatian Chamber of Economy’s Tourism Department, the Ministry of Tourism, Croatian National Tourist Board, Regional Development Agency of Slavonia and Baranja, Business Incubator BIOS and Osijek Software City.
