November the 27th, 2024 – 40 kilometres of brand new Split bike paths are being planned, as are 30 new garages.
Croatia has been making things easier for those who like to travel and get their exercise by cycling for a while now, and the country’s second largest appears to be next in line.
Split is a beautiful part of Croatia that draws hordes of visitors from across the globe each and every summer. One of its trump cards is certainly the perfect blending of urban and nature, and with cycling being pushed more and more as concerns for the environment grow, where could be better to explore on two wheels?
As Morski writes, Split Mayor Ivica Puljak recently announced the planned construction of 30 new garages in Split in the next few years, as well as brand new Split bike paths intended to further encourage cycling among the city’s residents and visitors alike.
The investment in both amounts to a massive 150 million euros and, as the mayor has revealed, will finally work remove the constant issue illegal parking from the city’s often busy streets, HRT reports.
“We’re planning to invest one hundred to one hundred and fifty million euros in the construction of garages in Split over the next few years, thus clearing up the city of illegally parked cars and providing space for the new Split bike paths, pedestrians, the disabled, parents with children in strollers and greenery,” Puljak told reporters.
The conference during which all of the above was discussed was being held one day after the Split City Council unanimously adopted a plan on Monday this week to establish a proper urban public mobility system in the City of Split.
It was then that Mayor Ivica Puljak confirmed the plan to construct 40 kilometers of new Split bike paths.
