Current HNS President Davor Šuker will continue being the President of the Croatian Football Federation.

The Election Assembly for the Croatian Football Federation was held at the Sheraton hotel in Zagreb at 12.00 this afternoon. At the Assembly, current President of the Croatian Football Federation, Davor Šuker was re-elected for another term as president, announces HNS on December 22, 2017.

Pero Karatović from the Zagreb Football Federation awarded Šuker his second term for the presidency. The election, which was done by public vote, saw only Dario Šimić vote against Šuker, Damir Misković and two other representatives abstain, and all 48 others unanimously admitted the new boss of HNS.

“I’m excited because we know what continuity means in football. Playing on the field, we learned the basics of teamwork. Today, there are more and more people in Croatia who want to instantly become a sportsman, while I want as many as there are that want to work hard in football,” Suker said as he accepted the position.

“I’m glad we saw those who were not ‘for’ – I want all future candidates to build up enough for the Statute and to get involved in the work of Croatian football. HNS is not just Rijeka or Dinamo; the football league is made by the lower leagues and the base. It is necessary to gather experience, work in practice,” he added.

“Let us be as great as possible in Russia, to join together from Kaliningrad to Rostov and to be in the World Cup for as long as possible,” Šuker said.

Among the guests at the assembly were the Vice President of Uefa, the President of the German Football Federation Reinhard Grindel, the Director of the Uefa Sector for National Associations Zoran Laković, the representative of the Croatian Olympic Committee Siniša Krajač, the representative of the City of Zagreb Ivica Lovrić and honorary Presidents of the Federation Branko Mikša and Mladen Vedriš.

Davor Šuker has thus received a new four-year mandate as President of the Croatian Football Federation, the top football body in the country, which he has led since July 5, 2012. Šuker was the only candidate in the elections.
