The major German airline is joining Ryanair in offering a new service from Rijeka to Frankfurt
Good news for Rijeka: on December 8, 2017, Novi list reported that the German airline Condor is about to introduce flights to the biggest city on Kvarner. Starting from next year, Condor will be operating a new service from Frankfurt, the fourth biggest airport in Europe, and Rijeka Airport, located on the island of Krk.
“This line is very significant for us, not only because of the visitors from Germany who will be coming [to Croatia] on holiday, but because of the connection with an airport that will provide passengers from Rijeka with an opportunity to carry on with their trip to any other destination on all continents. Where expected results are considered, we’re estimating this new line will bring us ten thousand new visitors next year”, said Tomislav Palalić, the director of the Rijeka Airport.
Condor will offer a twice-weekly service from Rijeka to Frankfurt, on Tuesdays and Sundays from May to October. Considering that Ryanair has already announced they would introduce the same line on Tuesdays and Saturdays, Rijeka Airport will soon offer a total of four weekly flights to Frankfurt.
“Having transported more than seven million passengers so far and [offering flights to] around 80 destinations in Europe, Asia, Africa and America, Condor makes for one of the world’s leading airlines when it comes to holiday destinations. Condor’s fleet is composed of over 30 airplanes whose technical maintenance is taken care of by an experienced organisation Thomas Cook Airlines, providing maintenance and repair work of the highest quality. While Frankfurt is known as Condor’s main hub, they also have bases in Berlin, Munich, Düsseldorf, Köln, Hannover, Leipzig, Stuttgart and Hamburg in Germany”, says a statement from Rijeka Airport.
