At the trade fair “Conventa” which was held in Ljubljana from January 18-19, the best congress destinations in Europe were awarded.
“Conventa” – a specialized trade show for meetings, events, and incentive travel for Central and Southeast Europe – was held for the 9th time this year. At this year’s event, there were 145 exhibitors and more than 300 organizers of business trips, of which 178 were foreign organizers from European and American markets, reports HRTurizam on January 20, 2017.
At the awards ceremony for best congress destinations, according to a survey from professional congress magazine “Kongres”, Dubrovnik was declared the best in the category of Top 10 regional congress centers.
Overall, the best congress destinations in Europe were awarded firstly to Prague, followed by Istanbul and Budapest. Dubrovnik named as fourth best in Europe.

The destinations were assessed using various criteria, from natural factors to transport infrastructure, including tourist infrastructure and conference facilities, and an evaluation of the market. Additional factors included evaluating the quality of life index and the global peace index, which increasingly affected the overall score.
Therefore, Dubrovnik has once again proved itself as a successful tourist destination – now ranking in the top of the congress industry in Europe.
