It will be a busy summer for The Garden Resort in Tisno…
The Garden Resort in Tisno will host a series of festivals this summer that will take place from June to late August, reports Jutarnji List on March 28, 2017. A total of seven festival events this summer will attract up to 20,000 visitors. In addition, each festival this year has extended its duration by a day, which further confirms that festival attendees are turning their arrivals into holidays, said Nick Colgan of The Garden Resort in Tisno and Barbarella’s Discotheque in Pirovac.
“We expect around 15 to 20,000 visitors this season, and with the already famous festivals, we have added two more. These include Lost Disco which is organized by promoters from Scotland, and the new Beats, Beer and Boogaloo festival is an emphasis on funk and soul music, and craft beer, which we are doing in collaboration with Craig Charles from the series Red Dwarf. With the participation of our craft brewery The Garden Brewery in Zagreb, we have invited more than ten international breweries to participate in the Beats, Beer, and Boogaloo festival, and in addition to the regional breweries, there will also be some from the United Kingdom, Germany or Sweden. On the last day of the festival, there will be a carnival procession through Tisno and the Hot 8 Brass Band from New Orleans will perform. Our wish is to involve as many local people as possible,” said Colgan.
“Tickets sales for the festivals are going great and Brexit has not hurt the festival season – we are growing when comparing the data with the previous year. For example, the dekmantel Selectors festival organized by the Dutch sold out in just two weeks. We’ve extended the contract with Hostin for another three years, and we plan to invest in the location, beach, apartments and pool for the next season. This year we want to work on environmental sustainability, and we’re ending the use of plastic cups at the site. We are also developing our offer to other branches of tourism, and this year we have a corporate event for 450 workers from one IT company,” added Colgan, who stressed that the announcement of new low-cost flights from England and Scotland has definitely helped for this season.
Ivan Klarin, Mayor of Tisno, said that the festivals in Tisno have extended the tourist season. “Ahead of us is the sixth season in Tisno, and last year the end of the season had already shifted to the beginning of September, which means that the festival season has become longer,” said Klarin.
Director of the Tourist Board of Tisno, Filip Henjak, pointed out that the festivals at The Garden Resort in Tisno have achieved to brand the destination.
“Such marketing numbers could not be achieved alone. During last year’s festival season the municipality of Tisno had 30-35,000 registered overnights. We already understand the habits of festival visitors who love our surroundings and are interested in Krka National Park and Kornati. The festival has led to a lot of cultural events, such as the opening of the Museum of Wooden Shipbuilding in Betina,” said Henjak.
The complete season in Tisno begins on June 28 with Love International, followed by the new festival Beats, Beer & Boogaloo and Suncebeat, Soundwave, defected Croatia, Lost Disco and dekmantel Selectors festival. All will take place at The Garden Resort in Tisno and at Barbarella’s Discotheque in Pirovac.
