As with most summers in Croatia, there have been plenty of celebrity sightings, but this summer, in particular, is seeing a new celebrity trend – fashion designers.
You might remember Oprah’s star-studded holiday in Dubrovnik just a few weeks ago, which was perfectly accessorized not only with a luxury yacht, but with fashion designer pals Diane von Furstenberg and honorary president of fashion house Valentino – Giancarlo Giammetti. The powerful group, which also included Oprah’s best friend Gayle King, shared photos of the famous squares, sparkling coves, and incredible heights of the Dubrovnik area on their Instagram profiles, which might have influenced another fashion friend to jump on board.
Namely, Valentino Clemente Ludovico Garavani, who is better known as ‘Valentino’ of the world famous fashion brand, was spotted enjoying the sights, bites, and tasty Croatian wines in Split. Valentino visited the popular terrace restaurant ZOI, which overlooks a beautifully lit and busy Riva, reports Slobodna Dalmacija on September 1, 2018.
“It was Valentino and his partner. They were delighted by Split and our food. They ate practically everything from our menu, apart from a couple of snacks,” said members of the Split restaurant, who did not want to disclose all of the details of this exclusive visit.
The 86-year-old fashion designer retired from his profession a few years ago. Critics say he is one of the greatest fashion icons who shaped and influenced today’s fashion world.
French President Jacques Chirac even awarded Valentino with the Legion d’Honneur, the highest decoration given out in France.
