According to data from the eVisitor system which includes tourist traffic created in commercial and non-commercial facilities and nautical charter (eCrew system), Croatia recorded 4.4 million arrivals (+6 percent) and 31.8 million overnight stays (+6 percent) during August. From January to August this year, Croatia achieved 14.8 million arrivals (+14 percent) and 85 million overnight stays (+13 percent). These results were presented by the Ministry of Tourism and the Director of the Croatian Tourist Board, Kristjan Staničić on September 6, 2017.
“These records in tourist traffic that have followed from the beginning of the year confirm and justify the quality management of the tourist system, the well-organized promotional activities, the strong investment in the quality of the offer and service, and the diversity of content in the destinations. Announcements for the season are excellent, and this great double-digit growth of tourist traffic is approaching us – for the first time in Croatian history, the number will reach 100 million overnight stays. When looking at the entire year, we expect higher tourist growth than the European average. This is the direction in which we want to continue because only the dedicated and quality work of everyone in tourism can make Croatia a more competitive tourist destination,” said Minister Cappelli.
The Minister also agreed with Staničić, who added that positive trends are expected in the coming months, especially in September.
“The heart of the tourist year fulfilled our expectations because Croatian tourism grew at high rates during the summer months when our capacities were traditionally the most popular. Today, more than 500,000 tourists are staying in Croatia, and we expect excellent results during September, which is becoming more and more important for our overall results every year. The goal is to finish this year successfully and to be ready to enter 2018 for which we have already started with some preparations,” said Director Staničić.
