Advent in Zagreb opened on December 2, 2017, and there is something for everyone this year, including pets.
The streets of Zagreb were packed yesterday, as locals and tourists took advantage of the first full-day of Croatia’s award-winning Advent in Zagreb 2018. Lots of family fun to be had, and an initial walk around the centre of the city suggests that this year’s event is the best organised and most creative ever. And there are some big surprises to come, which we will bring you in due course. Stay tuned.
For those who think that the only difference between the various components of Advent in Zagreb is location, think again. The section between the main train station and the main square of Ban Jelacic is ice skating heaven for some, romance in Zrinjevac for others, and the events most creative section in between – Fuliranje.
We will take a closer look at Fuliranje in due course – the centre of fun and quirky stuff – but we start with another first for Croatia, which is set to open in the next couple of days within the Fuliranje complex – Croatia’s first restaurant for dogs. Yes, you heard that right.
It is all down to the creative minds of two young Zagreb ladies who have the franchise to the Hov-Hov brand, and all is almost ready to welcome the first canine diners. The restaurant section of the Hov-Hov stand thoughtfully comprises tables of different heights to acccommodate customers of different sizes. There is a full menu, with a host of healthy dog meals on offer.
No time to stop for dinner, but you want to get a little festive treat for your favourite four-legged friend? How about a canine Advent calendar, just one of the innovative canine treats on offer?

Hov-Hov is a business which started in Maribor, Slovenia in 2013, and has quickly grown through franchises to Croatia, Serbia, Italy (20 outlets), Germany, Switzerland and Russia.
