And now record passengers by train…
Since Split has broken all the tourism records this year, which is best illustrated by the fact that the millionth overnight stay in the city was achieved two months earlier than last year, it is not surprising that the Croatian Railways have announced that in the trains which connect Zagreb and Split the number of passengers will be 10 to 15 percent larger compared to last season, reports Slobodna Dalmacija on September 1, 2015.
Asked about the effects of the tourist season on the number of passengers, the Croatian Railways point out that, due to the great interest of passengers during the season, the night trains which go to Split regularly have additional cars added from the international train which connects Split and Budapest, and there are additional night trains which include cars directly connected from Osijek and Vinkovci. They are all filled to capacity, just like the daily trains which run from the continental Croatia and in the opposite direction.
“Passengers are often buying a bargain offer ‘Hostel on Wheels’ to travel in a sleeping car with special compartments. In addition to this, there is a pair of night trains in which passengers can carry their cars and motorcycles, and they are even allowed to transport their pets. Also, until the October 4, on direct routes Zagreb-Split and Split-Zagreb, we offer a special 50 percent discount on the second ticket, if the tickets are bought for two passengers”, said representative from the Croatian Railways.
