Croatia has been named the best destination of 2018 by the Association of Travel Agents of Quebec.

Just how successful 2018 has been for Croatian tourism is confirmed by the latest recognition, that is, Croatia winning the ‘Destination of the Year’ for 2018 in the selection of the Association of Travel Agents of Quebec (L’Association des Agents deVoyages du Québec – AAVQ), reports HRTurizam on October 18, 2018.

The “Uni-Vers” ceremony was held for the sixth consecutive year at the Théâtre Rialto in Montreal on Wednesday. Croatia was named the best destination in a strong competition against Portugal, Mexico, Cuba and the Dominican Republic. The award was accepted by Ina Rodin, director of the Croatia National Tourist Board Representative Office in New York, which also covers the Canadian market.

Ina Rodin announced the continued positive trends of the Canadian market for the following year.

“With regard to estimates of the total number of arrivals and overnight stays in the Canadian market for next year, further growth is expected in Croatia at a rate of at least 20 percent. These estimates are based on the Canadian economy’s recovery forecasts, with a strong contribution to direct flights linking Toronto to Zagreb and Split and a general growth in the interest of traveling to Croatia,” said Rodin.

Over the course of the year, more than 170,000 arrivals and 470,000 overnight stays have been realized by the Canadian market, representing a growth of 24% in arrivals and 18% in overnight stays compared to the same period last year. The Croatian National Tourist Board says Croatia’s positioning in far-off markets will be one of the key strategic goals in the coming year.

The Quebec Association of Travel Agents (AAVQ) was founded in June 2011 as a non-profit association with a free membership for all representatives and entities operating in the travel industry. The aim of the association is to protect and improve the legal rights of members, as well as to encourage the quality of work among members to meet all customer expectations.
