Dubrovnik Airport’s two-millionth passenger arrives early.
As Dubrovniknet writes on the 11th of September, 2018, this year, Dubrovnik Airport has welcomed its two-millionth passenger a whole eighteen days earlier than it did last year.
Yesterday at 12:30, Christian Niemeyer arrived on a Eurowings flight from Dusseldorf, Germany. The surprised Niemeyer arrived in the company of his wife, and they were welcomed by Dubrovnik Airport staff along with representatives of local tourist boards who handed him gifts.
”I’m surprised. This isn’t the first time we’ve visited your country, but its our first time in Dubrovnik. We got a lot of nice gifts, from a voucher to buy a plane ticket, a free stay at the hotel, a two-person trip, a dinner … I hope my wife and I will spend a wonderful twelve days in Dubrovnik,” said Dubrovnik Airport’s two-millionth passenger, Christian Niemeyer.
”Last year, we had our two-million passenger for the very first time in history, and this year, they’ve arrived eighteen days sooner, and that’s extraordinary,” said Dubrovnik Airport’s director Frano Luetić, who added that in terms of the increase in arrivals, we’re looking at growth of 10 percent.
This year, including over winter, there are eight direct flights to connect Dubrovnik with various European cities. The cities with which Dubrovnik will have a direct connection are: Prague, Warsaw, Madrid, Istanbul, Frankfurt, Rome, and Barcelona, as well as domestic lines for Zagreb and Rijeka.
“As for the works that will take place this winter on the runway, then only smaller planes will by flying. As early as the beginning of December, the completion of the first phase of the works is expected, and by the middle of March next year the track will be extended to 2,100 meters, during which time there will be no disturbances to the landing of the aircraft,” noted Luetić.
