By the end of 2018, Croatia’s metropolis with boast four new hotels, all within the center of the city.
Open only just a few days ago, the Hotel Academia in the former shopping mall Cascade on Tkalčićeva street is already full for the New Year. The new four-star hotel has 51 rooms and two suites, and will rent out a multipurpose hall intended for conferences, various meetings, and weddings.
On Friday the hotel restaurant opened which is named “St. Michael”. The hotel’s restaurant will be based on the local and authentic cuisine of Zagreb and Croatia. A mini shopping mall will open on the ground floor, which by the end of February should be filled with tenants, and in January a wellness and fitness center will also open, writes Vecernji List on 25 December 2016.
“The target clientele are business people, who on official trips mainly just stay in hotels with four stars. In Zagreb, they (business people) spend an average of two to three days. The hotel is fully adapted for people with disabilities and has two rooms intended for those with disabilities,” says director of Hotel Academia Ivica Prevolšek, adding that for the opening and until the New Year they have lowered their prices so one can stay at the hotel for 680 kuna. This is only part of the investment in the hotel business in the capital city, which has not seen much since the opening of the Doubletree by Hilton in 2012.
In development is a hotel on Ilica 45, at the former public garage Zagrebparking, backed by the firm Ilica Park. The hotel near the intersection with Frankopanska should be completed by the end of next year. The plan is to achieve the conditions for a hotel with three stars, with a minimum of 45 rooms per night. At the corner of Trga žrtava fašizma and Boškovićeva streets, Gojko Ostojić, owner of the international university Libertas, has invested in high-class hotel “Le Premier *4”. The investment is worth 10 million euros, and the hotel will, in addition to serving business and holiday guests, serve Libertas college students. Since the building is a cultural monument, the outer facade will remain the same and will only be restored. The hotel will have 62 rooms and a presidential suite, a restaurant, bar, and a spa for guests.
“In the final phase, we will arrange the construction and interior, and the opening is planned for the beginning of spring,” said Natasa Ostojić , project manager.
By the last quarter of 2018, the Crystal Center at Ilica 212-214 should be completed. The complex will have 19-floors and will be 70 meters high. This complex will also include a four-star hotel with 70 rooms. The investor in the complex Kristalis d.o.o, a company owned by Stanograd, will invest 200 million kuna. The complex will include a pastry shop, a cafe, a restaurant on the 6th floor with an outdoor terrace, clinics, a multi-purpose hall, a spa with pools and a fitness center and a kindergarten. In addition, they are planning to build an underground garage.
Near the park Maksimir, the company Papić-gradnja plans to build a hotel of 2800 square meters with a total value of 40 million kuna, and the start of construction, says director Ivan Papić, is planned for March or April next year.
“It will be a four-star hotel and have fifty rooms and a conference room. We must first destruct the existing buildings on the site to begin construction. The opening is planned for the end of 2018,” says Ivan Papić. The hotel was designed by a team of architects Davor Prebeg, Zoran Bajić, Helena Ferkula and Maja Škripelj.
“On each floor there will be one apartment, making a total of seven, and the last floor will have two penthouses,” says Helena Ferkula, adding that on the 5th floor there will be a fitness center, as well as a coffee shop on the ground floor.
