Balsamic scent, fantastically deep and vivid. Specific “medicinal ethereality” as a convincing indicator of a Miloš Plavac. Seems like a colder 2004 gave an equally ripe, healthy and later harvested material.
I had the privilege to taste the 2004 Stagnum before, but I must admit only recently I managed to experience it at a Wine Reading Room workshop.
Fantastic leatherness is hinted already on the nose. Slight roughness along the palate leaves an energetic feel. Nothing to do with texture but a testimony to the proud grapes of Pelješac. In the after the tannin melts like honey while sliding down the throat. Until only sage and medicinal herbs remain.
14.8% alcohol has finally fully integrated. In substance, quality without the burdening weight. Grainy sustenance, bloody meatiness and fruit from the depths.
Instead of heat, body.
Instead of wood, incense.
