If local produce is your thing, Dubrovnik is the place to be next week.
If there is one thing Croatia is good in, well, okay, there are very many, but one of the items on that increasingly long list is homemade products and healthy food. While we may stuff our faces with pizza, burek and God only knows what else that can be found in your local bakery on a regular basis, there comes a time when our guts simply need a break.
Where to turn? As Dubrovnik Press Portal reports on the 13th of October, 2017, Croatia’s pretty much endless and extremely diverse selection of not only healthy, but local, homemade produce.
As part of the fourth Good Food Festival, a fair dedicated to just that will open on Pile (western entrance to Dubrovnik’s Old City) at 10:00 on Monday and will be working daily from 09:00 until 20:00 until October the 22nd, 2017.
A total of twelve exhibitors will participate in eight small cottages (similar to those seen during Dubrovnik’s Winter Festival), and will offer homemade Croatian products which have been lovingly traditionally prepared and ecologically grown. The products available during this fair will not be limited to just Southern Dalmatian or Dubrovnik-specific items, produce from all over the country will be on offer.
Some of the most sought-after and popular delicacies will be the famous Slavonian kulen, čvarci (not dissimilar to Britain’s signature pork scratchings) apples, numerous cheeses, honey, various liqueurs and alcoholic beverages, and of course, local wines.
